Just what is web hosting and why do I need it?

A web site is a collection of pages or documents which are linked together using hyper-links. These pages need to be accessible to the world so need to be located on a computer that is permanently on and permanently connected to the Internet. For this reason it is not practical to host your web site on your own computer.

Our computers or to use their proper name, servers are located in a data centre in the UK. A data centre is a special building that is both secure in terms of physical access, power and connectivity. A single server can run many web sites and our servers are running many, many, many sites.
